Welcome to Holy Trinity’s children’s ministry! As Anglicans, we believe Christ is present sacramentally in the service during the reading of the Word and in the Eucharist. Consequently, we love for our children to be present for these two portions of the service, even if they are developmentally not ready to stay in the whole service.
We support children of any age staying in the entire service, but we provide two options for children who are not ready to stay through the whole service with their families. Prior to the sermon, the children come forward for a blessing and are dismissed with their teachers. Children of all ages are welcome to come forward for the blessing even if they are staying for the sermon.
What to expect?
Ages 0-5 years (Preschool):
We provide childcare in the room immediately adjacent to the sanctuary. Because of the many children with food sensitivities, this is a snack-free zone; although, if your child needs a bottle/cup, please send one. Childcare volunteers are not allowed to change diapers, so if your child needs a change, we will text you or come get you. During warm weather, we often use the church’s fenced-in playground, so please make sure your child has appropriate footwear and sunscreen.
Ages 5-10 years (School-Aged):
This class meets in the Fellowship Hall in the building next door to the church. This class will focus on a text from the readings each week, and will be memorizing Scripture and songs. Again, no snacks will be provided. There are two bathrooms in this classroom available for the children. Parents are welcome to join the class at any time.
From June 1-August 28, all the children will be together in the preschool room to play age appropriate games from the sermon to the peace. The first weekend of September, we will return to our two-class structure.
